Plane ticket for one? Here’s some of the best locations for your next singles getaway

Flydrive in California

Despite its huge size, California is one of the best states for solo travellers. Its most popular cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego are brimming with affordable accommodation. It’s also a very welcoming and friendly place where solo travellers will rarely be alone and you’re sure to meet travel companions if you wish to.

Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs are perfect for city lovers, with urban appeal, zingy food and a dash of surf culture topping the agenda. Visually, the coastal Big Sur drive is a must, with stunning scenery of the rugged coast between Carmel and San Simeon, while Venice Beach is just one of many destinations where travellers can have some fun in the sun; stroll along the boardwalk and shop at the many boutique stores.

Ideal weekend escape, Croatia

During a visit to friendly Croatia, you’ll never feel alone as locals will greet you with open arms. Like most back packers, soak up the culture and clear waters of Split, Dubrovnik, and Zagreb where travel is a breeze thanks to the Flixbus connecting these major hubs – plus it’s easy on your wallet. Walk the famous city walls of Dubrovnik, go hiking in Marjan Park and marvel at Zagreb’s street art that’s worth a snap or two – there’s so much to see, you’ll need a second visit to take in all that this beautiful country has to offer.

Perfect for first timers, Ireland

Whether you’re seeking lavish green landscapes or cities of wonder, it’s all about the Irish charm. Ireland makes the idyllic home from home first solo location and thanks to its community spirit, conversation isn’t hard to find – especially alongside a pint of Guinness. Discover the vibrations of lively Dublin, rest amongst the laid-back lure of Galway, and head to the great outdoors in Killarney to visit Ross Castle. If you’re travelling via car, don’t miss The Wild Atlantic Way, hugging the coast for more than 1,553 miles across 15 landmarks. It’s a lovely drive to dip in and out of and has some of the best scenery and landmarks.

From here you’ll enjoy three game drives, spotting some of Africa’s most majestic animals, from giraffe to elephants, before several overnight stays in lodges and tented camps, where you’ll enjoy the local hospitality. Your trip also includes a guided wildlife walk, a host of meals and four nights all-inclusive in your beach hotel where you can enjoy watersports and spa treatments.
